Task & responsibilities

Task & Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults through test-driving, customer consultation and use of scan tools.
• Dismantle, repair and re-assemble engines, transmissions, steering, braking and suspension components to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform logbook services, safety inspections and road-worthiness checks in line with Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
• Tune and test repaired systems, ensuring vehicles meet performance and emission standards.
• Accurately record parts used, labour times and test results in the workshop management system.
• Maintain WHS standards and mentor apprentices in best-practice techniques.

Qualification & experience

Qualification & Experience

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent) OR Higher OR at least three years’ full-time, relevant employment.
• Minimum one year post Cert IV or two years post Cert III qualification experience servicing petrol and diesel light vehicles.
• Proven competency using OEM diagnostic equipment and interpreting wiring diagrams.
• Current Australian manual driver's licence (or ability to obtain).
• Sound knowledge of WHS and environmental regulations in an automotive workshop.
• Excellent fault-finding ability, attention to detail and customer communication skills.
