Formwork Carpenter

As a Formwork Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, installing and dismantling formwork systems used in concrete structures across a range of construction projects. You will work closely with supervisors, site managers and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.

Task & responsibilities

Interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.

Measure, mark and set out formwork components in accordance with project requirements.

Construct, install and dismantle timber, steel and proprietary formwork systems.

Assemble and position shutters, frameworks and moulds for concrete structures.

Install bracing and support systems to maintain formwork stability during concrete pours.

Coordinate with steel fixers, concreters and site supervisors to ensure project deadlines are achieved.

Inspect completed formwork to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

Operate hand tools, power tools and construction equipment safely and effectively.

Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times.

Assist with general construction activities as required on site.

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Certificate III in Carpentry, Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework, or equivalent trade qualification.

Minimum three (3) years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Formwork Carpenter.

Demonstrated experience in commercial, residential or civil construction projects.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction plans.

Strong understanding of concrete construction methods and formwork systems.

Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within the construction industry.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Current White Card.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale commercial or civil infrastructure projects.

Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Working at Heights, or other relevant construction licences.

Ability to lead small teams and mentor junior workers.
