Osborne Richardson is proud to partner with a our local government client to recruit an experienced Building Inspector on a contract running for 6 to 12 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Building Inspector who enjoys a mix of compliance, enforcement, investigations and stakeholder engagement while contributing to safe and compliant development outcomes across a growing municipality.

About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Building Services, you will play a critical role in administering and enforcing building legislation, undertaking inspections and investigations, and ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting inspections of existing and under-construction buildings and structures
  • Investigating illegal building works and alleged breaches of legislation
  • Preparing Building Notices, Orders, Directions and associated documentation
  • Managing building compliance and enforcement matters through to resolution
  • Providing professional advice to residents, builders, developers and stakeholders
  • Assisting with legal briefs, tribunal matters and statutory proceedings
  • Responding to emergency building incidents and participating in an after-hours roster
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and investigation files
About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Current Victorian registration as a Building Inspector or Building Surveyor (Limited or Unlimited) issued by the Victorian Building Authority
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
  • Experience within local government and/or private building surveying environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing compliance and enforcement matters
  • Strong investigation, reporting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Current driver's licence and White Card
