Task & responsibilities

Responsibilities

Fabricates and repairs metal products using various welding techniques.

Duties

•    Blueprints & Planning: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.

•    Material Preparation: Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for fabrication. Cut marked metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.

•    Shaping & Forming: Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, including heating and hammering. Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.

•    Joining & Assembly: Join metal sections using various welding techniques.

•    Quality Control: Examine welds for proper bead width, penetration, and overall precision.

•    Finishing & Smoothing:  Clean and smooth welds through filing, chiseling, and grinding.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications

•    AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training

•    AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

Experience

•    At least three years of relevant experience.
