Skilled Meat Workers

Macleay River Production Pty Limited (Eversons Food Processors) is one of the largest domestic multi-species abattoir in Australia and has been owned and operated by the Everson family since 1988. 

A well-established meat processor in Frederickton, NSW, Macleay River Meats' state of art facilities is designed with efficiency and safety in mind. 

We are currently seeking a team of skilled meat workers (Slaughterers, Meat Boners and Slicers) to join our team. These are exciting opportunities for experienced skilled meat workers looking for full time and permanent positions and looking to call Frederickton home. 

Macleay River Meats is strategically placed between the major markets of Sydney and Brisbane. We source the finest Sheep, Lamb and Cattle from QLD, NSW & VIC through saleyards and local producers. Our brand has a reputation for quality and customer satisfaction. We also have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety. This position requires precision as well as adherence to workplace health and safety at all times in a fast paced meat processing environment. 

As skilled meat workers, you will be responsible for delivering consistently high quality products through slaughtering, boning and slicing tasks. Your day to day tasks and duties include:  

• stun and slaughter livestock (by religious customs if required). 
• severs jugular veins of stunned animals to drain blood; 
• slits open, removes internal organs and hides; 
• prepare carcasses for further processing in the boning rooms; 
• divide carcasses into primal cuts such as rumps, flanks and shoulders 
• cuts and trims meat to separate meat, fat and tissue from around bones; 
• washes, scrapes and trims blood and other foreign substance from meat; 
• prepares meat for packing and marketing; 

Skills and Experience: 

• A minimum of 2 + years of previous experience within the meat industry;
• Relevant Certificate III in meat processing or equivalent;
• Reliable and have a can-do attitude; 
• Physically fit and ability to stand for long periods of time; 
• Attention to Safety and Hygiene
• Demonstrated ability to work without supervision; 
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
• Strong verbal communication skills;
• Ability to handle conflict and dispute resolution.
