About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Department Head - Property Management to lead and manage our property management operations in Paddington, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to shape the direction of our growing property management department whilst overseeing day-to-day operations and driving business growth. As Department Head, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team, managing a diverse portfolio of residential properties, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery to our clients. This role is pivotal to SPACE Property's continued success and offers significant scope for strategic decision-making and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor a team of property management professionals, providing clear direction, performance feedback and professional development opportunities

• Oversee the management of a substantial portfolio of residential properties, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations

• Develop and implement departmental strategies and policies aligned with company objectives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality

• Manage tenant relations, addressing queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner whilst maintaining positive relationships

• Ensure compliance with tenancy legislation, fair trading laws, and relevant regulatory requirements

• Handle dispute resolution and mediation between property owners and tenants

• Monitor departmental performance metrics and prepare regular reports on key performance indicators

• Liaise with property owners to provide updates, manage expectations and ensure satisfaction

• Identify opportunities for department improvement and implement process enhancements

• Contribute to business development initiatives and support the growth of the property management portfolio

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3 years' experience in property management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role

• Comprehensive knowledge of Queensland residential tenancy legislation and fair trading requirements

• Proven track record of managing residential property portfolios effectively and efficiently

• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships across multiple stakeholder groups

• Problem-solving abilities and capacity to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and diplomacy

• Proficiency in property management software systems

• Current knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in property management

• Organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

• A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
