Australia stands as a key market for UNIQLO in establishing its brand in the Asia and Oceania region and remains focused on continuing its growth. UNIQLO opened the first store, in Emporium, Melbourne, in April 2014, and as of today has expanded to 40 stores across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Australian Capital Territory.

The Role:

The Store Development Coordinator is at the forefront of growing the UNIQLO brand within Australia through store expansion. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the identification and delivery of opportunities to expand our store network providing the best representation of LifeWear for our Australian customers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of proposals/lease drafting on behalf of the Store Development.

  2. Tracking and follow-up of all lease documentation working closely with internal and external legal advisors.

  3. Follow-up landlords for new or existing property matters.

  4. Checking site plans meet, commercial offers and negotiations meet UNIQLO requirements.

  5. Maintain all store development files for each location.

  6. Coordinate and oversee the Pre-Board Critical Path, ensuring all necessary tasks and milestones are tracked and completed prior to board approval. This includes managing timelines, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and preparing documentation to support decision-making and readiness for presentation to the board.

  7. Attend meetings with landlords, partners or internal stakeholders.

  8. All associated and ancillary functions as directed by Store Development.

  9. Work closely with UNIQLO Australia Store Operations team and other internal departments to ensure a smooth opening of each site.

  10. Undertake other store development-related tasks as required.

Essential Skills, Experience and Requirements:

  1. Willingness to travel within Australia and internationally, as required.

  2. Bachelors degree in business, property, finance and/or law (preferred but not required).

  3. Strong level written & verbal communication with multiple stakeholders.

  4. Ability to work collaborative with other functions to achieve goals.

  5. Strong relationship building skills with stakeholder at all levels of an organization.

  6. Strong financial reporting background and understanding of lease accounting.

  7. Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  8. Understanding of the retail environment and the ability to think creatively about how to best deliver the future of LifeWear to our customers.

  9. Has previous experience working in retail or leasing environment.

  10. Has had exposure to legal matters in relation to leases.

  11. Has a proven track record of achieving in a company with accelerated growth within a high performance company.
