Maintenance Technician – Heavy Mobile Mining Equipment

We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Maintenance Technicians to join our growing team across Perth Metro, FIFO and DIDO operations. Rosters available include 7/7, 8/6 and 2/1 across the Pilbara, South West and Goldfields regions, with immediate starts available.

In this role, you will perform testing, diagnostics, repairs, scheduled servicing and breakdown maintenance on a range of heavy mobile and fixed plant mining equipment including CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu, Liebherr, Atlas Copco, Epiroc and Sandvik fleets. Equipment includes haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, excavators, drills, road trucks and water carts.

Experience with component rebuilds, shutdown maintenance, engine and transmission overhauls, suspension systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems and electro-hydraulic troubleshooting will be highly regarded. Knowledge of CAT SIS, CAT ET and other OEM diagnostic systems is advantageous.

You will work in a highly safety-focused team environment, collaborating with supervisors, team leaders and clients to deliver high-quality maintenance services.

Essential Requirements

  • Completed 4-year apprenticeship and hold a relevant Trade Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in mining or heavy mobile equipment maintenance
  • Australian Trade Recognition Certification
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Current driver's licence
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety

Key Responsibilities

Scheduled & Breakdown Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs and fault rectification to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Maintain detailed service records and maintenance documentation.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Utilise OEM diagnostic software and tools including CAT SIS and ET.
  • Conduct fault finding on engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and hydraulic systems.

Component Rebuilds

  • Complete rebuilds and repairs of engines, transmissions and hydraulic components.
  • Inspect, repair and reassemble components in accordance with OEM standards.

Shutdown Maintenance

  • Participate in shutdowns, inspections and major equipment overhauls.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to meet shutdown schedules and client requirements.

Hydraulic & Electro-Hydraulic Systems

  • Repair and maintain pumps, motors, cylinders, valves and associated systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electro-hydraulic and control systems.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all site safety procedures and company policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings and identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain compliance with mining industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician within the mining industry.
  • Experience maintaining haul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, drills and ancillary equipment.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with shutdown maintenance and component rebuilds.
  • Experience using OEM diagnostic systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant Heavy Duty Mechanical or similar trade qualification.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day and Night Shift rotations
  • FIFO, DIDO and Perth Metro opportunities
