The Role
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, the Event Manager plays a key role in the planning, coordination and delivery of Northbourne Group’s events.
This role is responsible for supporting end-to-end event operations, maintaining compliance across all event activity, coordinating stakeholders, managing event documentation and budgets, and leading on-site execution. You will be part of a high-performing team delivering safe, efficient and exceptional event experiences for clients and patrons alike.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver events using Northbourne Group’s systems, tools and operational frameworks
Lead and manage core operational and logistics crews on site, and support the staffing team and casual workforce as required
Work with the HR & Finance teams to plan and set staffing levels at events according to expected levels of trade
Develop and manage operational plans, logistics documents, run sheets and event schedules in line with client and company requirements
Support safe, compliant and efficient event delivery throughout all stages of planning and execution
Ensure all event documentation complies with relevant legislation, permits, approvals and internal risk and quality standards
Prepare and maintain key event planning documents, including but not limited to, Event Management Plans, Alcohol Management Plans, Vendor Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, Risk Registers and Event Schedules
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure timelines, approvals and deliverables are met
Support stakeholder engagement activities, including meeting preparation, agendas, minutes, presentations and action tracking
Build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and casual workforce teams to support high-quality event delivery
Identify and implement process improvements that create efficiencies across event operations and team workflows
Support clients in line with expectations and requirements, as well as industry trends with menu creation and pricing
With support from the finance team, manage event budgets efficiently, including sourcing quotes, participating in budget reviews and executing operational agreements
Complete post-event reporting, operational debriefs and continuous improvement actions
About you
You are a highly organised and solutions-focused event professional who thrives in fast-paced environments. You bring a practical understanding of event delivery, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to balance planning, compliance and execution.
You will ideally have:
A positive attitude and proven experience in leading a team
Strong project management capability and a solid understanding of event operations
Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal teams
Confidence in writing, reviewing and interpreting operational and legislative documents
A keen understanding of Australian liquor licensing laws and regulations
Strong administration skills, with experience using Excel and project management systems
Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a high standard of work
A hands-on attitude and willingness to do what is needed to deliver a successful event
A genuine passion for the music, entertainment and events industry
Flexibility to work the non-traditional hours required in events
Willingness to travel interstate and be away from home during peak event periods when required
Experience
3+ years’ experience in event management, site management or event operations
Experience managing budgets and delivering end-to-end event operations
Experience preparing event documentation, welfare planning and managing external contractors and suppliers
Qualifications
RSA certificate to VIC, NSW & QLD if possible or will be required to be obtained
NSW Liquor & Gaming Licensee and/or Approved Manager Approval, or willingness to obtain
Forklift license, or willingness to obtain
