About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement , the Student Communications Coordinator is responsible for delivering clear, effective and engaging communications to Melbourne Polytechnic students across a variety of channels.

The role ensures students receive timely, relevant and accessible information that supports onboarding, engagement and retention. Working closely with internal stakeholders, this position develops student-focused content, coordinates communication campaigns and supports initiatives that enhance the overall student experience across the Institute.

What You'll Do

Develop clear and engaging communications content for Melbourne Polytechnic’s diverse student community across multiple channels
Plan and deliver student communication campaigns that promote awareness, engagement and retention
Produce regular student communications including newsletters, eDMs, SharePoint updates and the Student Survival Guide
Interview students and develop compelling student stories, case studies and profiles
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to source, develop and edit content for student audiences
Review and optimise student communication platforms and approaches to improve reach and effectiveness
Monitor communications performance through analytics, surveys and reporting to support continuous improvement
Provide best-practice advice on student communications and plain-language content
Support broader communications initiatives within the Marketing and Communications team as required

What You'll Bring

Essential

Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, digital media, journalism or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Highly developed written communication skills with strong copywriting and editing capability
Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, plain-language content for diverse audiences
Experience planning and delivering communications campaigns across multiple channels
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Experience working with digital communications platforms and content management systems
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to continuously improve communications processes

Desirable

Experience developing video, photography or graphic content
Experience with SharePoint or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Understanding of user experience (UX) principles
Experience creating accessible and inclusive communications
Current driver’s licence
