With over 460 teams, approximately 11,000 participants, 26 member clubs and more than 1,000 umpires under management, we play a significant role in the development of junior sport across South Metro Melbourne. About The Role Reporting to the General Manager - Commercial & Marketing, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the league's marketing, communications and branding. You'll play a key role in delivering our annual marketing plan and supporting our corporate partnership program. This is a full-time position that also supervises seasonal media interns. What You'll Be Doing Marketing & Communications Build and manage the SMJFL's annual marketing calendarManage all social media accounts and stay across emerging trends and content opportunitiesWrite, curate and distribute e-newsletters and sponsor eDMs via MailChimpManage the SMJFL website, keeping content accurate, fresh and easy to navigateCreate content for themed rounds, seasonal promotions and SMJFL alumni storiesProduce print publications including the Annual Report and Footy RecordWrite and edit copy, and proofread across campaigns and PR activitiesPlan and deliver the annual SMJFL Media DaySupport corporate partners in activating their partnership entitlementsProvide quarterly marketing analytics reports to the Board and end-of-season reports for sponsors Events & Activations Produce digital and physical content for all SMJFL events including presentations, invitations and venue visualsCoordinate media coverage at events and publish content promptlyWork with partners on content for corporate activations Operations & Administration Manage the SMJFL Accredited Photographers ProgramCoordinate SMJFL nominations for the AFL Victoria Media Awards and other industry awardsMaintain media equipment, sponsor collateral and propsProvide guidance to member clubs on marketing and communications best practiceAssist with the development of the SMJFL filming procedures criteria and be an active member of any associated Working Party What We're Looking For Skills and experience: A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experienceMinimum of 1-2 years of marketing/communications experienceProficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign), Canva and basic website management, ideally on Wix/EditorXStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detailSolid organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlinesExperience managing or mentoring staffAn analytical mindset with the ability to report on marketing performancePhotography and/or videography experience is a bonus, or a willingness to learn Personal Attributes A genuine passion for sport, especially footyUnderstanding of junior and community sportProactive, approachable and a natural collaboratorCalm under pressure, patient and diplomaticFocused on delivering results Other Requirements Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check, a Play by the Rules Child Protection and Safeguarding Course Certification, and a current First Aid/CPR certification. Some after-hours and weekend work is required across the football season but is balanced within your usual working hours. Candidates must have Australian work rights and be eligible to work in Australia without sponsorship.
