Media and Communications OfficerSalary: $107,874 – $114,425 per annumPlus up to 15% superannuation (conditions apply)Full Time Fixed Term to 8 January 2027Located: Administration BuildingRef No: 26-039 An exciting opportunity is available for a Media and Communications Officer to join the City of Joondalup Communications and Stakeholder Relations team. The role provides support, specialist communications and expert advice to key stakeholders on the City’s media requirements and positioning. The position supports the City’s media relations program and includes research and preparation of media releases, statements and responses, speech preparation, and providing information for City publications (external and internal) and the website. Key responsibilities include:Preparing high‑quality communication materials, including media releases, speeches, briefing notes, website content and social media posts.Managing media enquiries, coordinating responses and supporting spokespeople to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.Identifying and developing proactive media opportunities that promote City initiatives and activities.Monitoring media coverage, emerging issues and public sentiment, and providing advice on communication risks or opportunities.Liaising with business units to ensure information is accurate, accessible and aligned with City priorities. Your covering letter will need to address the following key criteria:Tertiary qualifications in media, communications, PR or related fields.Relevant experience in media, communications or public relations, including examples of work that demonstrate capability.Experience preparing written materials such as media releases, speeches, digital content and community‑focused communication.Experience managing media enquiries and supporting organisational representatives.Experience identifying and developing proactive media opportunities.Monitoring media coverage, emerging issues and public sentiment.The ability to work across a large organisation and multiple teams.
