Fleet Manager

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the company's fleet operations, ensuring the efficient utilisation, maintenance, compliance, and performance of trucks, cranes, and related equipment. The role involves coordinating drivers and operators, managing maintenance schedules, monitoring regulatory compliance, maintaining operational records, and implementing strategies to improve fleet efficiency, safety, and productivity while supporting the overall operational needs of the business.

• Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 per annum (plus superannuation)

Task & responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's fleet of cranes, trucks, and transport equipment.
• Supervise drivers, crane operators, and fleet personnel, including rostering, onboarding, performance monitoring, and compliance management.
• Monitor vehicle and equipment utilisation to maximise operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
• Manage maintenance schedules, servicing, repairs, registrations, inspections, insurance, and compliance requirements for all fleet assets.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, heavy vehicle regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, licensing obligations, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate fleet records and prepare operational, maintenance, compliance, and performance reports.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems, driver performance, fuel usage, and operational efficiency to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Liaise with mechanics, service providers, suppliers, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders regarding fleet operations and maintenance matters.
• Investigate vehicle incidents, equipment breakdowns, infringements, and operational issues and implement corrective actions where required.
• Assist with fleet budgeting, asset planning, procurement, and cost-control initiatives to improve productivity and profitability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to fleet management, transport operations, customer service delivery, and workplace safety.

Qualification & experience

• Diploma or higher qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in fleet management, transport operations, logistics coordination.
• Strong understanding of transport operations, fleet maintenance coordination, heavy vehicle compliance, and workplace safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy with experience using fleet management systems, reporting tools, and operational software.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet operational deadlines.
• Current unrestricted HR Australian Driver Licence.
