Delivery Driver

The Delivery Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely collection, transportation, and delivery of goods to customers while maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring compliance with road safety and company procedures. The successful candidate will perform vehicle inspections, maintain delivery documentation, and contribute to the efficient operation of the company's transport services.

Task & responsibilities

• Collect, transport, and deliver goods safely and efficiently to customers in accordance with delivery schedules.
• Load and unload goods carefully to prevent damage during transportation.
• Conduct pre-start, daily, and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Plan delivery routes to maximise efficiency and ensure on-time deliveries.
• Obtain proof of delivery and maintain accurate delivery records, manifests, and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and supervisors regarding delivery schedules and operational issues.
• Ensure goods are handled, secured, and transported safely.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Comply with road transport legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, and company policies.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries and collections.
• Assist with basic warehouse or loading activities when required.
• Report delivery discrepancies, incidents, or customer concerns promptly.
• Follow safe manual handling procedures at all times.

Qualification & experience

Essential

• Valid Australian Driver Licence appropriate for the delivery vehicle being operated.
• Minimum 1-3 year of relevant experience in delivery driving, courier services, freight distribution, or transport operations.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate delivery vehicles in urban and regional environments.
• Good knowledge of road safety regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good organisational and time management abilities.
• Physically capable of loading, unloading, and handling goods safely.

Desirable

• Experience using GPS navigation systems and electronic delivery management applications.
• Forklift Licence (advantageous).
• Experience in freight handling and warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of Townsville and surrounding regional delivery routes.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle inspections.
