Transport Depot Freight Handler Assistant

We are currently in the market to recruit a mature, independent and energetic transport professional in our Forrestdale location.

We are looking for someone who has a growing skill set & capacity and who seeks an opportunity for development and desire to grow and be able to undertake more critical tasks and then possibly move into a more senior role. The position is likely to suit someone who is on their way ''up''. The primary function of the role is manual handling of our freight. This includes unloading pallets and containers and moving the boxes into the driver run bays. High performance in this area open doors into other facets of the operation such as forklift driving, scanning and use of the transport management system. It will definately require some solid hard yakka, combined with your developing communication and management skills.

Tasks:

• Manual handling of freight from our pallets and containers - this is the primary function of the role

• Depot collects/agent pickups and liaising with customers

• Identification and processing of priority freight

• Scanning of items within depot

• Contribution to depot success through input, suggestions, recommendations and honest feedback

• Forklift driving

Role requirement:

• Flexibility of hours

• Being available for weekends as required

• Good communication skills

• Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic

• Team playing attributes

• A current and valid forklift licence, experience in driving with demonstrable skills

• Sound computer skills (developing skills absolutely OK)

• An acceptance of the physical nature of the role as you will be lifting items that may be small, heavy, large, cumbersome, or all of the above

• The desire and ability to learn

• The understanding that we have standard processes that are not flexible but we want you to have the willingness to find and suggest better ways to do things

This role will be great for someone who can and wants to work autonomously but understands that there will be lots of contact with others from HX.
