The Opportunity 

Potts Lawyers is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our criminal law team full time.

Are you a detail-oriented, organised and enthusiastic team player? Your role will be to support a number of solicitors and handle various administration tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly and accurately.

About You

  • Experience in a legal team is desirable not essential, what is essential is a desire to build a career!

  • Have a high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.

  • A professional telephone manner and commitment to providing quality client service.

  • An ability to maintain confidentiality of all matters affecting the firm and its clients.

  • Exceptional communication and organisation skills.

  • An ability to meet deadlines with strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

  • The ability to take and follow directions, work within a team and communicate with other employees across the firm.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office programs.

  • The ability to work autonomously and efficiently with minimum supervision.

  • Willingness to assist colleagues.

  • A desire to excel in your role.

Tasks & Responsibilities 

Your role will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Assisting and liaising with clients.

  • Drafting, preparing and amending correspondence, documentation, briefs and the like.

  • Diary management for court dates and conferences.

  • Undertaking enquiries as directed.

  • Managing a number of files and keeping them up to date.

  • Providing proactive administrative support to the team.

  • Performance of all other tasks as required for the effective conduct of client matters.

  • All other general administration duties required by the team such as attending to bring-ups, opening files, and preparing files for archiving.

  • Providing other secretarial, clerical and administrative support when requested in a timely, effective and efficient manner.

Remuneration
