The location and Lifestyle:

Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy.   For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the region.

About the Role:

As an Operator - Quarry, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of crushing and processing equipment to achieve production targets and maintain product quality. Working within a team environment, you will support routine maintenance activities, manage material movement and stockpiles, and help ensure equipment reliability. You will also play an active role in maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace in line with EQR's standards and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production & Operational Planning:  Execute daily crushing, screening, and processing activities to achieve production targets. Monitor material flow, stockpile levels, and product quality, making adjustments to optimise operational performance.

  • Maintenance Coordination:  Assist in planning and executing preventative and routine maintenance for crushers, conveyors, and screening equipment. Monitor equipment condition to minimise downtime and ensure reliable, continuous operation.

  • Logistics & Resource Management: Ensure the availability of materials, tools, and spare parts to support production and maintenance, including shutdown preparation. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of consumables and critical components.

  • Safety & Compliance:  Maintain strict adherence to EQR safety and environmental standards. Implement dust suppression controls, participate in safety audits, and actively promote a strong safety culture across site operations.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Experience: 2-3 years in a similar, hands-on role in mining, quarrying, or resource coordination.

  • Understanding of quarry operations, material flow, and quality control

  • Ability to perform inspections and support routine maintenance

  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to identify equipment issues

  • Effective teamwork and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and meet production targets

  • Must have a legal right to work in Australia.
