Technical Project Lead – Implementation & Vendor Onboarding

Location:

Parramatta / WFH
Contract Length: 6 months (possibility to extend)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $800-$900 per day + Superannuation
Hours: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week
Work Type: Contract

A NSW Government agency is looking for an experienced Technical Project Lead to drive the implementation of a replacement system through to go-live. This is a hands-on delivery role - you'll be the central point of coordination between internal stakeholders, technical teams, and the implementation vendor, owning the end-to-end execution of a complex technology program.

What you'll be doing

You'll lead vendor onboarding, establish governance frameworks, and keep the integrated implementation plan on track - managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and dependencies throughout. Day-to-day you'll be coordinating across business, infrastructure, security, and third-party teams, facilitating technical decisions, and making sure the project doesn't stall at the seams between teams.

The role spans the full delivery lifecycle: environment and integration readiness, data migration, testing and UAT, cutover planning, and transition to BAU. You'll also be accountable for operational readiness - ensuring support models, documentation, and handover artefacts are in place before the switch is flipped.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven track record delivering complex technology implementations in large or regulated environments
  • Strong vendor management experience — you know how to hold partners accountable without derailing relationships
  • Solid understanding of integration and data migration in enterprise system replacements
  • Experience maintaining RAID logs, running governance forums, and reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Someone who can cut through ambiguity and drive decisions rather than waiting for them
Desirable
  • Prior NSW Government experience
If this role sounds like a great fit, apply now. Please note that only applicants with full Australian work rights will be considered.
