Digital Infrastructure Engineer

• 12-month contract
• Hybrid - 3 days in the office based in the Northeastern Suburbs of Melbourne
• AGSVA Security Clearance required.

Our client is a Federal Government agency. Due to growth, they are seeking a Digital Infrastructure Engineer to help drive the development and delivery of strategic and operational digital technology functions. You'll oversee and support the enterprise digital infrastructure that keeps internal services secure, stable, and scalable across both on-premises and cloud environments. You'll work with executive stakeholders, branches, and offices to deliver practical infrastructure outcomes that strengthen reliability, security, and day-to-day business operations.

Required Skills

• Enterprise infrastructure administration across cloud and on-premises environments
• VMware vSphere virtualisation (mandatory)
• Microsoft infrastructure administration in hybrid environments, including:
  • Windows Server build and administration
  • Active Directory
  • DNS, DHCP
  • Group Policy
  • Certificate management
• System administration and lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, and maintenance
• Incident management and problem resolution within a service operations model (via the Service Desk)
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis for moderately to complex technical issues
• Ability to monitor systems proactively, tune performance, and diagnose faults
• Networking fundamentals, including firewalls, switches, load balancers, and proxy configuration (web/mail)
• Backup, restore, and disaster recovery capability
• Microsoft 365 administration, including:
  • Entra ID
  • Conditional Access
  • SSO/SAML
  • Defender
• Service-oriented mindset with strong documentation capability, including technical and operational procedures
• Experience working in structured frameworks such as ITIL, ISM, or PSPF (highly regarded)

Nice to Have Skills

• Exposure to Hyper-V (future capability)
• Dell VPC experience
• Linux exposure/desirability
• Experience with SQL Server maintenance and high availability configurations (e.g., DAG)
• Experience with Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and/or Azure Virtual Desktop
• Backup/DR tools such as Veeam and Azure Backup
• Experience supporting Exchange, ideally in hybrid on-premises/online environments
• Experience with SharePoint, Intune (MDM), and SCCM

Preferred Education and Experience

• Relevant infrastructure certification (e.g., Azure, VMware, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience delivering contemporary digital technology solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid enterprise environments
