The Role
The successful applicant will bring extensive experience working in a Defence or similarly complex environment, and will work within Space Systems Branch to provide ICT and Networking expertise in support of the acquisition and sustainment of Space Domain Awareness and Space Control capabilities. Drawing on formal training and experience, the successful applicant will apply their knowledge of ICT systems and networks to propose and assess technical solutions, provide technical advice and manage IT security for space capabilities. The applicant will also have a knowledge of Defence ICT, cyber and security policies, and be able to apply these in the process of developing solutions and reviewing proposals by external stakeholders.
About our Team
Space Systems Branch acquires and sustains Space Domain Awareness and Space Control systems, and is a trusted advisor on these capabilities for the Australian Defence Organisation. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel. The team works from the RAAF Base Edinburgh site in Edinburgh, South Australia and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies. The team also works closely with a major Defence prime contractor responsible for engineering and logistics support of the Space Domain Awareness capabilities.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will determine requirements, review proposals and provide technical advice relating to ICT and networking aspects of Space Domain Awareness/Control capabilities. They will provide ICT/networking technical guidance to capability acquisition and sustainment teams, identify ICT/networking-related project issues, manage technical risks and mitigations, and provide reporting to internal and external stakeholders. They will work collaboratively with Defence ICT, Prime Contractors, partners and other domestic and international stakeholders to ensure that Defence ICT/networking policies and practices (including security) are followed and applied. The ability to interpret and comply with cyber security policy, and experience working within System Engineering processes and frameworks will be advantageous.
EligibilitySecurity Clearance
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
Mandatory Qualifications
This technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
