 River Sands Pty Ltd is a vertically integrated manufacturer of dried cement-based mortars, grouts, adhesives, concrete, concrete coatings, pigments, speciality sands and soil blends. The range of products are manufactured at large scale on multiple production lines at our manufacturing facility at Carbrook; a nearby sand quarry; and from overseas based partners.

The business was established over 50 years ago and distributes its products via leading Hardware, Tiling and Plumbing retailers; Ready Mixed Concrete producers, landscapers and Flooring Tradesmen around Australia.

Due to the impending retirement of the long serving Head of Technical, we are seeking an industrial chemist or suitably experienced person to lead , QA, Environmental Compliance, New Product Development and provide technical support to the Sales Team.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you will be working in and leading an experienced on- site laboratory team. You will also be responsible for liaising with staff at government departments.

You will lead the systemisation of Process across all activities and harvest the input and suggestions from all staff to capture opportunities for improvement. Best practice will be constantly refined and documented in the Company’s ISO registered Quality Management System.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience in cement technology and its chemistry.

• Five or more years’ experience in running a construction or materials laboratory

• Experienced in product development and research and development activity

• Experienced in leading, maintaining and improving Quality Management Systems to meet ISO Standards and drive business improvement

• Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes with internal and external parties

• Strong personal organisation skills with the ability to effectively lead and manage others

• Tertiary qualification in chemistry or similar

• Strong analytical and investigative abilities, written communication and good MS excel skills
