As part of continued expansion across engineering, research and development, and large-scale solar project delivery, FTC Solar Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Hardware Technician to support engineering and field hardware systems across operational project environments.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position.

The Hardware Technician provides technical support for hardware systems used across engineering teams, R&D facilities, and utility-scale solar farm project sites. The role ensures reliable operation of hardware platforms supporting project execution, commissioning activities, monitoring systems, and ongoing operations.

This position involves work across office environments, R&D facilities, warehouses, and operational solar farm locations throughout Australia.

The role requires regular travel to regional solar farm project sites across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of solar tracker hardware systems

• Support operation and maintenance activities across utility-scale solar farm projects

• Perform diagnostics, configuration and firmware updates on field hardware controllers

• Provide technical support during solar farm construction and commissioning phases

• Install, configure and maintain engineering workstations and hardware systems

• Diagnose and resolve hardware faults impacting engineering or project delivery activities

• Support deployment and commissioning of hardware infrastructure

• Maintain field hardware devices, mobile equipment and operational support systems used across project sites

• Maintain accurate hardware asset registers and maintenance documentation

• Coordinate hardware repairs and replacements with vendors and global engineering teams

• Ensure compliance with company safety, quality and technical standards

• Assist rollout of hardware upgrades across operational project environments

Skills and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics or related discipline

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in hardware technical support or field technician roles

• Experience working within renewable energy, infrastructure or engineering environments preferred

• Experience supporting hardware systems in operational or project-based environments

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and system documentation

• Ability to work across office and remote project locations

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Salary

AUD $120,000 – $135,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Location

Primarily based in Brendale QLD. This role supports FTC Solar Australia operations across offices, R&D facilities and solar project sites throughout Australia.
