About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Computer Network and Systems Engineer to design, install, configure, test, and maintain enterprise-level networks and systems supporting healthcare and business operations.
This role focuses on planning, developing, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting computer network and system environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, install, configure, test, and maintain computer networks, servers, and associated systems across healthcare environments.
Administer and support network hardware, software, and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Monitor and analyze network and system performance, troubleshoot faults, and implement corrective measures to minimize downtime.
Develop and maintain network and systems documentation, including configuration details, topology diagrams, and operating procedures.
Implement and manage system security controls, firewalls, and user access policies in accordance with healthcare data protection and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Plan, configure, and maintain secure remote connectivity solutions (VPN/SD-WAN) and cloud-based environments (Azure/Microsoft 365).
Support integration and interoperability of healthcare applications, including EHR/EMR systems and related clinical software.
Conduct regular system backups and manage disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
Provide technical service, advice, support, and training to internal teams and healthcare clients, ensuring consistent service delivery and compliance.
Contribute to ICT strategy, infrastructure upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
Minimum 2 years' professional experience in network and systems engineering (healthcare sector experience desirable).
Sound knowledge of networking protocols, Windows Server environments, Active Directory/Entra ID, and firewall configuration (Cisco/FortiGate/Meraki).
Experience with virtualization and cloud infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS).
Familiarity with security frameworks, backup systems, and disaster recovery planning.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, CompTIA Security+, RHCSA) highly regarded.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Understanding of healthcare data privacy standards and system compliance requirements (e.g., My Health Record, APPs)
