Position: Production Manager
Causmag International, a longstanding manufacturer of Magnesium Oxide and Magnesium Carbonate, is looking for a Production Manager with proven experience in safely managing 24 x 7 plant operations to join our team. The position reports to the General Manager and is assisted by a team of plant operators and maintenance tradespersons. The position is located in the picturesque rural town of Young in Australia 160 km from the capital city Canberra.
Qualifications, experience and requirements:Experience in operation of rotary kilns and vertical shaft kilns is required – candidates without this experience may please not apply Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 20 years experience in 24 x 7 chemical manufacturing environmentDemonstrated experience in working successfully in a team environment and coordinating with finance, commercial, and raw materials departmentsExcellent time management and organisation skills with the ability to work hard under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlinesStrong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Word and ExcelProficiency in CAD and ERP software is preferred Responsibilities will include: Comply with all environmental, organisational health and safety and quality requirements including all regulatory licence conditions and statutory requirementsMentoring, training and development of employees working in plantAnalyse energy and labour costs, utilisation of maintenance and operations crew, factory layout, data and records to organize and manage labour, materials, plant and equipment Supervision of maintenance and implementing strategies to reduce breakdowns, including preventative maintenance and procuring/maintaining inventory of sparesAssess, negotiate with, and selection of external contractor (where in house facility is not available) so as to provide a cost-effective solution to critical maintenance tasksInspect plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained including completion of checklists for operations, maintenance and housekeeping crew Attend sites after normal working hours where equipment failure or breakdowns impact on immediate operationsMaintain proper records including engineering drawings for compliance and management information systems (production, stock of raw material and finished products, spare parts, and operating materials/consumables)Establish standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulationsSupervise the dismantling, refurbishment, assembly, erection and commissioning of equipmentDesign and construct machines for calcination of minerals, materials conveying and handling, crushing, sieving, grinding and packaging
