About Us

Menya Ramen Elizabeth Street is a well-established Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We are known for serving authentic Japanese ramen and traditional Japanese cuisine, offering a high-quality dine-in experience to local customers, students, office workers and visitors. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of Japanese dishes, including ramen, rice dishes, side dishes, appetisers and soups in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.

• Prepare ingredients for daily service, including cutting, portioning, marinating and storing food items.

• Monitor cooking processes and presentation standards to ensure consistency, quality and timely service.

• Maintain stock rotation practices and assist with monitoring inventory levels and ingredient usage.

• Ensure all food preparation and cooking activities comply with food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements.

• Assist with receiving, storing and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients.

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations and food preparation areas.

• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to support efficient service during lunch and dinner trading periods.

 

Skills and Experience Required

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.

• At least two years of relevant commercial kitchen experience.

• Experience preparing Japanese cuisine, particularly ramen and noodle-based dishes, is highly desirable.

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Strong organisational and time management skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
