The Local Grill is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team in Canowindra, NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, managing kitchen operations, and contributing to menu development. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring consistency, presentation, and customer satisfaction while collaborating effectively with other kitchen staff. Task & responsibilities

Prepare, season, and cook a variety of meals according to menu specifications and customer requirements.

Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard of quality and consistency.

Assist in planning menus and developing new food offerings.

Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control to minimize waste.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment.

Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations at all times.

Assist with stock control, stock rotation, and ordering of ingredients and kitchen supplies.

Store food items appropriately and monitor inventory levels.

Work efficiently during busy service periods to ensure timely meal preparation.

Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to deliver excellent customer service.

Report equipment maintenance issues and assist in maintaining kitchen equipment.

Support the Head Chef and other team members in daily kitchen operations.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time work experience as a Cook.
• Sound knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food preparation techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications where appropriate.
