The Motel Manager will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the motel, ensuring high standards of customer service, maintaining the property, supervising staff, and driving efficient business operations. The successful candidate will live onsite and play a key role in maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for all guests. Its full time job.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the motel, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Welcome guests, handle check-ins and check-outs, and respond promptly to guest enquiries and requests.
  • Manage reservations, room allocations, availability, and booking systems, including online travel platforms.
  • Ensure all guest rooms, common areas, gardens, and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Supervise, train, and coordinate housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance staff where required.
  • Develop staff rosters and monitor employee performance to ensure effective operations.
  • Handle guest feedback, resolve complaints professionally, and maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor room occupancy, pricing strategies, and seasonal demand to maximise revenue and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to reservations, guest transactions, expenses, and operational activities.
  • Manage inventory and arrange purchasing of housekeeping supplies, amenities, linen, and operational equipment.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, hygiene standards, and relevant accommodation regulations.
  • Monitor the security of the premises and ensure the safety and comfort of guests.
  • Assist the business owners with budgeting, operational planning, and continuous improvements to the motel.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications

  • Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Hospitality, Hotel Management, Tourism, Business, or a related field will be advantageous.
  • Candidates with relevant industry experience and demonstrated management skills are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in the hospitality, accommodation, hotel, motel, or tourism industry.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory, front office, duty manager, assistant manager, or motel management role will be highly regarded.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with guests.
  • Experience using online booking platforms and reservation management systems is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and online booking systems.
  • Understanding of housekeeping standards, property maintenance, and hospitality operations.
  • Ability to manage a small team and maintain a positive workplace culture.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when operationally required.
