POSITION SUMMARY
Berry Sweet Strawberry Farm Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Agricultural Technician to support the technical management of its commercial strawberry production operations.
The Agricultural Technician will collect and analyse crop production data, monitor irrigation and fertigation systems, conduct field trials, undertake crop assessments and provide technical support to management to optimise crop yield, fruit quality and production efficiency across Berry Sweet's farming operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collect, record and analyse crop production data including plant growth, yield, fruit quality and harvest performance.
• Conduct crop monitoring activities and prepare technical reports on production outcomes.
• Perform soil, water and plant tissue sampling and assist with interpretation of laboratory results.
• Monitor irrigation and fertigation systems and assist with optimisation of water and nutrient application programs.
• Conduct field trials involving crop varieties, nutrition programs, irrigation strategies and production techniques.
• Monitor crops for pests, diseases, physiological disorders and environmental stress factors.
• Assist with implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
• Maintain detailed production records and technical documentation.
• Collect and analyse climatic and environmental data to support crop management decisions.
• Monitor fruit quality parameters and assist with quality assurance activities.
• Assist management with harvest forecasting and crop performance assessments.
• Support implementation of food safety, biosecurity and quality management systems.
• Prepare technical reports, recommendations and summaries for management.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve productivity, fruit quality and resource efficiency.
• Calibrate, operate and maintain crop monitoring equipment and associated agricultural technology systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance to farm supervisors regarding crop monitoring and production activities.
Essential
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Science or a closely related field.
• At least two years of relevant agricultural or horticultural industry experience.
• Experience collecting, recording and analysing agricultural production data.
• Knowledge of irrigation, fertigation and crop nutrition systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agricultural record-keeping systems.
• Current Australian driver's licence.
Desirable
• Experience within the berry, horticulture or intensive crop production industries.
• Experience with Freshcare, HARPS or equivalent quality assurance systems.
• Knowledge of protected cropping or commercial strawberry production systems.
