Lupin Pty Ltd is a family-run agricultural business based in Varley, Western Australia, specialising in broadacre cropping operations including lupin, wheat, canola, and barley production. The business provides technical support to farming enterprises in the Varley region year-round, from seeding and spraying through to harvesting, ensuring that farming activities are optimised and run on schedule.

About the Role

We are seeking full-time Agri Technicians – MULTIPLE POSITIONS-  to join our team in Varley WA. The successful candidate will work closely with Farm Managers, Owners, and Agronomists to provide technical support across all cropping activities and deliver optimal farming outcomes.

Responsibilities

Soil Analysis and Preparation:

  • Conduct soil tests to assess soil quality and nutrient levels
  • Determine the need for soil amendments and make recommendations
  • Prepare soil by plowing, tilling, and adding necessary amendments to create an optimal planting environment

Planting and Crop Establishment:

  • Coordinate and oversee the planting of crops, ensuring proper spacing and depth
  • Ensure timely planting in accordance with the farm's seasonal schedule
  • Monitor seed quality and make recommendations for seed treatments as required

Crop Maintenance:

  • Monitor crop health and identify pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
  • Implement pest and disease control strategies, including the application of pesticides and integrated pest management techniques
  • Apply fertilisers and nutrients as needed to support crop growth
  • Ensure proper weed control through herbicide application or manual removal

Harvest Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with farm management to plan the timing and logistics of harvest
  • Oversee the harvesting process, ensuring it is carried out efficiently and with minimal losses

Equipment and Machinery Maintenance:

  • Maintain and repair farm equipment including tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems
  • Conduct routine inspections to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure safety

Data Collection and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of planting, irrigation, pest control, and fertilisation activities
  • Collect data on crop yields, soil conditions, and other relevant metrics to assess and improve farm performance

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure the wellbeing of farm workers and compliance with environmental laws
  • Stay informed about the latest agricultural practices, technologies, and regulations

Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in agricultural production or an equivalent agri-technician role
  • Demonstrated experience in broadacre cropping systems
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Willingness to work in a regional and remote location
  • English language proficiency required
