Amuri Creek Fruit Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Fruit Grower to oversee and manage strawberry production at our commercial farming operation in the Mount Barker region of Western Australia.

This key role is responsible for planning, organising and coordinating all aspects of fruit production to ensure consistent yields of high-quality strawberries throughout the growing season. The Fruit Grower will manage crop establishment, irrigation and fertilisation programs, pest and disease management, harvest planning and workforce coordination to support efficient and productive farm operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong horticultural knowledge and practical farming experience. The successful candidate will work closely with management to ensure production targets, fruit quality standards and operational timelines are achieved while maintaining safe and sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and coordinate fruit production activities including bag preparation, planting schedules and crop establishment
  • Monitor crop growth, plant health and bag conditions to optimise yield and fruit quality
  • Develop and implement irrigation, fertilisation and crop nutrition programs
  • Implement pest, weed and disease management strategies in accordance with best horticultural practices
  • Supervise and coordinate farm workers engaged in planting, crop maintenance, harvesting and packing activities
  • Plan and manage harvesting schedules to ensure fruit is picked and handled efficiently while maintaining quality standards
  • Operate and oversee maintenance of farm machinery, irrigation infrastructure and horticultural equipment
  • Maintain production records including spray diaries, fertiliser applications, irrigation schedules and crop yields as part of our Freshcare – HARPS QA programs.
  • Ensure farming operations comply with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant agricultural regulations
  • Assist in planning improvements to farm infrastructure, irrigation systems and crop production practices

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial fruit growing or horticultural production
  • Experience in fruit or grape production will be highly regarded
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation management, fertilisation programs and pest and disease control
  • Experience supervising seasonal farm workers during planting and harvest periods
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and horticultural equipment
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage seasonal production cycles
  • Formal qualifications in Horticulture, Agriculture or a related field will be highly regarded
