About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out overhaul and repair work across a large fleet of locomotives, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

This is a hands-on role where you will play a critical part in keeping our locomotive fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing overhaul and repair work on a variety of locomotives

  • Conducting servicing, dismantling, and inspections

  • Completing component change-outs and reassembly

  • Carrying out pneumatic system testing

  • Ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards

  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation

This is a dynamic role offering variety, technical challenge, and the chance to work on specialised heavy equipment.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, reliable, and eager to build their career in the rail industry.

You will bring:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and upskill

  • High standards in record keeping and reporting

  • Ability to work shifts and overtime is essential.

Skills and Experience:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (essential)

  • Experience in heavy maintenance or asset management environments (highly regarded)

  • Knowledge of diesel or electric engines (desirable)

  • Locomotive experience a bonus—but not required
