Field Sampler – ALS Water

Shift: approx. 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with some flexibility. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Sampling of client sites in accordance with client requirements, including on-site field analyses where applicable.
  • Ensuring appropriate sampling equipment and approved methodology is used to provide a quality service to the clients.
  • Optimizing turnaround times for samples while ensuring the highest quality of sampling protocol is achieved and maintained.
  • Understanding methodology changes that affect operations of sampling.
  • Ensuring sampling equipment and vehicle are kept correctly maintained, clean and tidy.
  • Maintaining client relations, scheduling and maintaining sampling times of clients.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance personally and reflected in equipment presentation, in accordance with the quality requirements of ALS.
  • Prioritizing samples upon arrival to the laboratory.
  • Sorting of samples and delivery to labs.
  • Results entry in LIMS.
  • Sample bottle preparation.
  • Maintain equipment used for conducting analyses, including cleaning and calibration.
Qualifications
  • Relevant experience in the environmental industry.
  • An appropriate level of customer service.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Excellent quality service approach and attitude.
  • Basic problem solving / lateral thinking.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to spend long periods driving.
  • Confidence in working around water and ability to swim.
  • Knowledge of operation of small water supplies and treatment plants is desirable.
  • Driver’s License and confidence in automatic driving ability.
