About the Company Ocean Partners Pty Ltd (Ocean Partners) operates within Australian Commonwealth and state fisheries to sustainably harvest and supply fish to both local and international markets. These fisheries extend from Lancelin in Western Australia roughly to the Southernmost tip of Tasmania. Our fish are harvested to the most rigorous sustainability standards adhering to the regulatory framework of Commonwealth and

State fisheries which are overseen by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority and the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development respectively. Our operations will benefit the local community through creating employment (mainly in regional areas), investment in licensing, processing, legal services, financial services, logistics and other ancillary services. We will also reduce the reliance on imported bait by supplying to recreational and sport fishermen, crab and lobster fishermen and the tuna farming industry in Port Lincoln.

Position Description We are seeking a dedicated Marine Electrical Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the following;

  • Maintain and troubleshoot high and low voltage power generation, distribution, and emergency electrical systems
  • Service critical electronic systems including integrated navigation systems (INS), fishing sonar, satellite communications (VSAT), and VMS
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with electrical safety standards and the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational during offshore operations
  • Ensure compliance with maritime electrical safety standards and environmental protection protocols

About You This position requires niche technical and operational expertise in the operation of mid-ocean pelagic trawling vessels. These vessels employ sophisticated and ultra-modern navigational, technology, mapping, and fish-targeting systems to harvest mid-water column species with minimal interruption to the surrounding marine environment. To be successful in obtaining this role, you will have;

  • At least 3 years of work experience in this capacity on vessels;
  • STCW III/6 (Electro-Technical Officer);
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (A-VI/1-4)
  • Proficiency in Survival Crafts and Rescue Boats (A-VI/2-1)
  • Proficiency in Security Awareness Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A-VI/6)
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Organisational skills
