Driver & Maintenance Support Officer

St John's Crisis Centre – Gold Coast
Part Time (potential to become Full-Time)

St John's Crisis Centre is seeking a reliable, hands-on team member to support our food rescue, logistics, maintenance and welfare operations across the Gold Coast.

This is a varied and active role suited to someone practical, organised and community-minded.

Key Responsibilities

Food Rescue & Logistics

• Drive the work van to collect donated food from approx. 12 supermarket bins.

• Regular pickups from schools and other organisations.

• Deliver school lunches to a local school.

• Purchase non-perishable food and cleaning supplies as required.

• Collect one-off donations.

• Distribute excess clothing to other charities.

• Assist with rubbish removal.

Welfare & Program Support

• Assist Welfare Manager with ordering goods and stock control.

• Support Christmas hamper production and seasonal programs.

• General duties as directed by the Manager and Welfare Manager.

Maintenance & Property

• Minor maintenance at two locations.

• Coordinate trades (plumbing, electrical etc.) when required.

• Weekly/fortnightly mowing at outreach centre.

• Cleaning and upkeep of the Centre.

About You

• A current car licence is required to operate work vehicles.

• Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting.

• Basic handyman/maintenance skills.

• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.

• Committed to supporting vulnerable members of the community.

• Working with Vulnerable People check to be obtained within 3 months of commencement.

This part-time role may transition to full-time as we grow. Your work will directly support individuals and families in crisis across the Gold Coast.
