Abel Tasman Village is a non-for-profit, 72-bed residential Aged Care facility, that was established in 1994 and since then has built a reputation of delivering outstanding care to our ageing population. Our name is well known, and respected in the community and that of the surrounding areas and we find ourselves as one of the preferred residential Aged Care facilities in South Western Sydney.

About the Role

Abel Tasman Village is seeking applicationsfrom people with a passion for working in a home care setting. You will be responsible for providing support, personal care, and social care to our homecare clients. Our Care Workers play an important role in helping clients live the life they want, maintain independence and to improve their Quality of Life in the home. We deliver high-quality services for our clients in their homes across greater Sydney.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking clients on outings to the shops, the bank, a café or, out for a walk
  • Taking clients to appointments or respite
  • Food preparation and assisting in cooking meals.
  • Assisting with exercising, dressing, toileting, and self-administration of medication
  • Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbage, washing dishes, laundry, and assisting around the garden.
  • Assisting clients with their personal care such as: showering, personal grooming, moisturising or dressing
  • Observing skin integrity, supervising medication dosage and administration & reporting any changes that are observed
  • Recording notes for each scheduled visit

To join us, you’ll need:

  • Fluency in speaking ENGLISH and ARABIC
  • A fabulous caring nature with demonstrated tolerance, patience and empathy with older people.
  • Experience in the Aged Care sector and community/home care is preferred. Many of our clients are from non-English-speaking backgrounds so language/communication skills are important as is your passion to provide care and support to the elderly in a friendly, supportive way.
  • Certificate 3 Aged Care e.g Individual support or similar desired or a willingness to obtain.
  • Australian work rights
  • Current National Crime Check
  • Flu and COVID vaccination
  • You have a valid Driver’s Licence and access to an insured, reliable car (min. Third Party Fire and Theft Insurance).
  • Abel to work a rotating roster
  • You’ll be flexible around meeting the changing needs of home care clients.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced, highly organised and customer focused Care professional who is interested in a part-time position with a not-for-profit organisation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $32.00 – $32.10 per hour
