Betty Spears Child Care Centre is seeking a passionate and organised Centre Chef to join our warm and supportive team. This is a wonderful opportunity for a cook who enjoys creative autonomy, preparing nutritious meals for children, and being part of a positive early childhood environment.
About the Role
Running your own kitchen, you will work independently to plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines, Munch and Move, and our centre’s nutrition policy. As a vital part of our community-run centre, you will play an important role in supporting children’s growth, wellbeing and learning through food.
🍽 Key Responsibilities
Plan and prepare morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea daily
Cater for allergies, intolerances and cultural dietary requirements
Maintain a clean, safe and compliant kitchen
Manage food ordering, stock rotation and kitchen budget
Ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards
Maintain accurate food safety and temperature records
✅ Essential Requirements
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain)
Experience in meal preparation (experience in childcare highly regarded)
Understanding of allergy management and special dietary needs
Current Working With Children Check
Strong organisational and time management skills
