Join the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET) as our Manager, Sustainability & Impact, and lead the charge in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future across Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre.
About the role
Please note: This is a 12‑month fixed-term contract to cover parental leave.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of VCET’s integrated sustainability and impact strategy. Covering environmental responsibility, social impact and economic prosperity, our commitments cover everything from circulatory and waste, climate and nature, accessibility, gender equity,reconciliation, and regional impact.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer, you’ll be embedded in a broader team that works closely with our Chief Executive and Trust to maintain and enhance VCET’s social licence amongst stakeholders.
Collaborating with internal teams, venue partners, suppliers, and community organisations you will plan and implement strategies to reduce environmental impacts and enhance social outcomes—while ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting and certification requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Drive the implementation of VCET’s sustainability and impact strategy and associated action plans
Lead initiatives in waste and circularity, emissions reporting, accessibility, reconciliation, and gender equality
Manage reporting obligations and sustainability certifications
Coach and support the Sustainability and Impact Specialist
Represent VCET in industry forums and community partnerships
About you
You possess a tertiary qualification in environmental management, sustainability, engineering, or related fields
You bring deep expertise in corporate sustainability, with a strong understanding of environmental practices such as decarbonisation, energy efficiency, waste management, and climate adaptation
You’re passionate about inclusion, accessibility, and reconciliation, and have experience leading cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.
A natural collaborator and communicator, you build strong relationships across diverse stakeholders and inspire your team to deliver with purpose.
