The Role
Our team is dedicated to delivering growth servicing and infrastructure solutions that help build sustainable, thriving communities. We work collaboratively to ensure essential water services are planned and delivered efficiently, responsibly, and with long-term community benefit in mind.

As a Development Planning Officer, you will provide expert servicing advice for new sewer, water, and recycled water infrastructure. You will ensure all designs and proposals comply with Yarra Valley Water’s specifications, standards, policies, and practices.

This role plays a key part in balancing developer needs with community expectations, delivering compliant, cost-effective solutions that support growth while achieving the best possible value for the community.

Your key responsibilities

  • Managing and responding to project tasks through YVW’s EasyACCESS High Volume Transaction Portal and the Works Portal.
  • Assess and respond to development enquiries regarding water and sewer infrastructure required for development.
  • Take ownership of and resolve complex customer and development problems
  • Run and analyse sewer and water hydraulic models with regards to development.
  • Assist and provide improvement opportunities and innovation ideas for land development advice.
  • Collaborating with and maintaining strong working relationships with other team members in Water Investment Planning, Sewer Investment Planning, Water Delivery Planning and Optimisation, Sewer Delivery Planning and Optimisation, Developer Asset Delivery and Development Services
  • Contributing to reporting so that we can demonstrate good customer service.
  • Participate as an effective member of the Delivery Planning and Optimisation Division

What we’re looking for

  • Awareness of complexities of Land Use Planning and Development
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical issues
  • Knowledge of Integrated Water Management principles
  • Competent in use of technology for water and sewer GIS systems and analysis tasks.
  • Excellent customer service and customer management skills
  • Management and delivery of change and innovation
