The Steel and Glass Co Pty Ltd has an excellent opportunity for a qualified Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis.

The Steel and Glass Co Pty Ltd is based in Kingscliff, NSW, and provides high-quality installation services across the Tweed and Gold Coast areas. The business undertakes commercial and residential work, including the installation of pool fencing, balustrades, handrails, aluminium fencing, battens, screens and custom gates.

The successful applicant will work within a practical, hands-on construction environment and will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of high-quality carpentry and installation work across commercial and residential sites.

The position is full-time, 38 hours per week, with an annual salary of $80,000.00 to $85,000.00 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

Task & responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications to determine layouts, materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
  • Selecting and ordering timber, steel and other building materials required for each project
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling and installing timber, steel and other building materials
  • Constructing, erecting, installing, renovating and repairing structures, fixtures, stairs, balustrades, handrails, screens, fencing and other fittings
  • Installing and repairing frameworks, structures and other construction components in accordance with plans and project requirements
  • Operating hand tools, power tools and site equipment safely and efficiently
  • Checking the accuracy, alignment and quality of work using levels, squares, measuring tools and other equipment
  • Identifying and resolving practical issues on-site in relation to installation, measurements, materials or finishes
  • Organising materials required for each job and liaising with other trades where required 
  • Implementing daily tasks in accordance with workplace health and safety standards
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area
  • Identifying defects or issues and carrying out repairs or adjustments where required
  • Ensuring all finished work meets required quality standards and client expectations

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant Certificate III qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time work experience in a similar role
  • Current construction induction card / White Card
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications
  • Competent in using power tools and site equipment
  • Strong practical carpentry skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a commercial and residential construction environment
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to problem-solve on site
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team
