Civil Engineering Draftsperson

We are seeking a full-time Civil engineering draftsperson to join our team.

The Civil Engineering Draftsperson supports the delivery of civil infrastructure projects by preparing detailed engineering drawings and documentation under the direction of engineers and engineering technologists. The role involves producing accurate design drawings for water, wastewater, drainage and other civil engineering works in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and project requirements.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings, plans, sections and construction details using AutoCAD and associated drafting software.
• Produce drawings and documentation for civil infrastructure projects including water supply, sewerage reticulation, drainage systems, roads, pumping stations and associated structures.
• Interpret engineering sketches, calculations, specifications and design information to develop accurate drafting documentation.
• Assist engineers in the preparation of concept, detailed design and construction documentation.
• Revise and update drawings to incorporate design changes, review comments and as-constructed information.
• Assist with site inspections, collection of field information and verification of existing asset data to support engineering design activities.
• Prepare schedules, tabulations, quantities and other technical documentation required for engineering projects.
• Liaise with engineers, surveyors, contractors and clients regarding drafting requirements and technical information.
• Ensure engineering drawings comply with applicable Australian Standards, client requirements, project specifications and drafting procedures.

Skills and experience:

• Relevant qualifications plus one year of experience, or three years of experience in lieu of related qualifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and related drafting software.
• Understanding of civil engineering drawing standards and construction documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations, specifications and technical information.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
