About the business

Bus Queensland (part of the Pulitano Group of Companies) is currently seeking a Safety and Environment Manager to join our team at our Park Ridge depot.

Our company specialises in providing School, and Urban, services in the South East Queensland, as well as Melbourne and Country Victoria.

About the role

  • Plan, implement and manage compliance with Work Health & Safety Legislation, Company Policies, Service Contracts and Safe Work Procedures at all times;

  • Conduct post-accident investigation and prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management;

  • Provide support to Head Office Managers by maintaining a visible presence across the group performing site visits and audits;

  • In conjunction with Company WHS systems develop Depot Safety Management Plans to ensure compliance and a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and the community;

  • Lead the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs;

  • Lead, support and participate in the WH&S consultative process;

  • Provide job safety analysis or safety initiatives when required;

  • Develop and maintain all facets of the Group’s Safety Management System (SMS);

  • Assist the management team to execute the SMS;

  • Chair the Safety Steering Committee;

  • Provide expert advice to the management team with regards to managing risk;

  • Maintain the risk register for the Group;

  • Complete all relevant statutory reports and documents;

  • Maintain all safe work procedures, safety policies, environmental policies, safety committee minutes and other relevant documentation;

  • Oversee and coordinate regular audits of the SMS;

  • Relieve for the Return to Work Co-Ordinator during periods of leave.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS/OHS.

    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in WHS.

    Demonstrated application of health and safety regulations.

    Transport industry experience highly desirable.

    Excellent computer skills.

    Analytical and logical problem-solving skills, strategic thinker.

    Operational management experience.

    Organisational skills with high attention to detail.

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
