Financial Controller

Our client is a rapidly growing business in the Fuel Industry. They are now looking for a hands on Financial Controller to take genuine ownership of the numbers. Sitting at the heart of the business, you will oversee day to day accounting operations, lead a team and act as a trusted commercial partner to senior leadership.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee all day to day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across the finance function.
• Drive the month end close process, including preparation and review of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting packs.
• Manage cashflow forecasting and reporting, providing clear visibility to leadership on liquidity and working capital.
• Analyse and manage supplier costs, identifying opportunities to improve margins and drive efficiencies across the business.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team
• Act as a commercial partner to operational and senior leadership teams, translating financial data into actionable business insights.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring processes run smoothly and to agreed service levels.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles, contributing to strategic business decisions.

What We're Looking For

• CA or CPA qualified, with a solid technical accounting foundation.
• Proven experience in a hands on Financial Controller role, ideally within an operational or multi site business.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team.
• A commercial mindset — you can look beyond the numbers and connect the financials to business outcomes.
• Strong cashflow management and month end experience.
• Confident working in a fast moving environment and comfortable managing competing priorities.
• If you have a BI slant that would be added value
• Experience with supplier cost analysis and procurement finance is advantageous.
