We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and safety‑focused Mechanic to join our Rocklea branch. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this hands‑on role is responsible for maintaining and repairing our hire fleet to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and available for our customers.
You will work closely with the workshop, branch, and operational teams to minimise downtime and deliver a high standard of service. This role offers a wide variety of work across petrol and diesel equipment, small engines, and EWPs with ongoing training and support. There will be occasional visits to customer sites for breakdown response and scheduled maintenance. Variety and customer satisfaction are two of the key things our mechanics enjoy most about this role.
This is a full‑time position working 45 hours per week, based primarily at our Rocklea branch, with occasional support provided to other branch workshops as required.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a wide range of hire equipment.
Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs.
Maintain and service the hire fleet to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and hire‑ready.
Minimise operational downtime through effective troubleshooting and timely repairs.
Conduct inspections and maintenance on industrial machinery, small engines, and EWP equipment.
Complete accurate and up‑to‑date service and repair records.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with WHS policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workshop environment.
Occasionally attend customer sites to perform maintenance or breakdown response.
Work collaboratively with branch and workshop teams to support branch operations and customer needs.

What We Are Looking ForTrade‑qualified Mechanic or 3rd to 4th year apprentice (essential).
Current driver’s licence (mandatory).
Experience with small engine equipment (desired).
Experience with earthmoving and EWP equipment (desired).
Basic auto‑electrical knowledge and fault‑finding skills.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance capability.
High level of attention to detail with effective time management skills.
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Ability to participate in an On-Call roster
A positive, energetic attitude with a willingness to learn.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Great communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Forklift licence (desirable).
Basic to intermediate computer skills.
Previous experience within the general hire industry (highly regarded).
