At Sutherland Shire, we are committed to preserving our natural environment while providing exceptional service to our community. Our Environmental Management Unit is looking for a detail-oriented Scientific Support and Administration Officer to help us achieve our goals.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in environmental projects, manage administrative tasks efficiently, and support our team in making a positive impact.

Your Role

As the Scientific Support and Administration Officer, you will be instrumental in coordinating the administrative functions of our Environmental Management Unit while providing essential scientific assistance. Your organisational skills and attention to detail will ensure that our projects run smoothly and efficiently, helping us to better serve our community and protect our environment.

  • Handle general administrative duties, including correspondence, meeting organisation, and communication management.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing the unit's budget and grant funding.
  • Coordinate electronic data collection and contribute to the preparation of environmental reports.
  • Maintain our website and IT functions, ensuring that our online presence reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship.

We seek candidates who are proactive, detail-oriented, and have an interest in environmental science. If you possess the following qualifications and skills, we encourage you to apply:

  • Relevant experience in an administrative support role.
  • Competence in Windows applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Package: $72,921-$77,297 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full-Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
