Assistant Accountant
Part-Time – 30 Hours per Week
Cronulla RSL Memorial Club is seeking an experienced, organised and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager and contribute to the efficient operation of the Club's finance function.
Located right on Cronulla Beach, this part-time role offers the opportunity to join a successful and progressive Club with a strong team culture, on-site parking and a unique beachfront working environment.
The successful applicant will assist with the day-to-day financial operations of the Club, ensuring transactions, reconciliations and reporting requirements are completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with relevant financial and compliance standards.
The role will have the following responsibilities
Completing bank reconciliations and payment processing through MYOB
Scheduling and processing supplier and creditor payments
Assisting with payment collections and cash handling requirements as required
Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting and transaction recording standards
Supporting the reconciliation and control of accounts and financial records
Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and schedules, including cash flow and budget reporting
Assisting with the analysis of financial results and identifying variances where required
Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and associated records
Compiling information required for FBT, GST and BAS reporting obligations
Completing payroll journals, payroll reconciliations and payroll tax returns
Processing monthly accruals and monitoring prepayments
Assisting with internal and external audit requirements
Maintaining and documenting accounting procedures and processes
Identifying and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
Assisting with AML/CTF compliance requirements and reporting obligations
Supervising Cash Office operations and supporting Cash Office staff
You will have the following skills and experience
Demonstrated experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar finance role
Experience using MYOB and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to prepare accurate reports and financial information
Sound understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting processes
Experience with payroll processing, payroll reconciliations and associated compliance requirements
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with financial data
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also managing responsibilities independently
Essential criteria
Tertiary accounting and finance qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar role
Experience using MYOB accounting software
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience in cash handling and reconciliation processes
Strong communication skills and a professional approach to stakeholder interactions
High level of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail
