The College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand is responsible for the training and education of intensive care specialists across Australia and New Zealand. Since our establishment in 2010, our team play a vital role in advancing intensive care medicine, supporting trainees and promoting high standards of care across the region.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the organisation while providing valuable insights that support strategic decision-making and business performance.

As a trusted finance business partner, you will work closely with senior leaders and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. You will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement across financial systems and reporting, leveraging tools such as Power BI to enhance organisational visibility and performance.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Manage the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of accruals, prepayments and journals.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards.

  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including bank, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals and provisions.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to the Senior Leadership Team, advising on managing costs, improving financial performance supporting operational decision making.

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Deliver financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business cases, investment decisions and strategic initiatives.

Compliance & Audit

  • Support year-end financial reporting and audit processes.

  • Prepare financial statements and co-ordinate external audit requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including GST and FBT reporting.

  • Maintain adherence to relevant accounting standards (AASB/IFRS).

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain cost centre reporting and profitability analysis.

  • Identify cost drivers and opportunities to improve efficiency and financial outcomes.

  • Build and enhance Finance reporting packs using Power BI.

  • Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting processes and data quality.

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders and translating financial information into meaningful business insights. You have strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. Essential skills and experience are:

  • CPA or CA qualified + 5 years' experience in an Accountant or similar role.

  • Strong experience with Power BI, or other business intelligence tools

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and IFRS reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.

  • Proven stakeholder engagement and finance business partnering capability.

  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central highly regarded.
