About the Role

This role is responsible for delivering accurate, end‑to‑end, fortnightly payroll processing while ensuring compliance with relevant awards, legislation and internal policies for approximately 1200 staff under multiple awards. You will act as a trusted payroll officer, supporting staff and driving continuous improvement across payroll systems and reporting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Process end‑to‑end payroll, including wages, salaries and entitlements
  • Interpret EA, SCHADS and Retail Awards to ensure compliance
  • Manage leave processing, superannuation and payroll reconciliations
  • Provide timely, accurate payroll advice to employees and managers
  • Prepare payroll reports, data analysis and workforce insights
  • Support system improvements across ELMO
  • Handle complex payments (terminations, WorkCover, long service leave and Portable LSL)
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and cost allocations

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Proven experience in end‑to‑end payroll processing within a complex environment
  • Experience in disability, aged care, health industry will be highly regarded
  • Hands‑on experience with ELMO payroll systems
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate bespoke plugin systems such as rostering tools
  • Strong understanding of awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation
  • Experience managing payroll queries and providing customer‑focused support
  • Advanced skills in Excel, data analysis and payroll reporting
  • High level of accuracy with strong numerical and reconciliation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively

Education and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Payroll, Accounting, HR or related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in a similar payroll role
  • Additional certification in payroll or HR systems (desirable)
  • Current NDIS Worker Check and Working with Children Check required
