About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Workforce Planning Specialist to play a critical role in shaping the future workforce strategy of our organisation.

In this highly analytical and strategic position, you will lead the development of workforce forecasting models, scenario planning, and data-driven insights that directly inform enterprise-wide decision-making. You will work across complex programs to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, at the right time to meet future demand.

This is a unique opportunity to influence long-term workforce strategy, combining advanced analytics, business partnering, and innovation—including emerging AI and automation methodologies.

This is a full-time opportunity that can be based at our Osborne site in SA or Henderson site in WA.

Responsibilities

Strategic Workforce Planning & Analytics

  • Develop and deliver enterprise-wide workforce forecasts integrating supply, demand, and labour market insights
  • Lead scenario planning and identify workforce risks, gaps, and opportunities
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights to support executive decision-making
  • Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on workforce strategy and planning

Workforce Tools, Systems & Governance

  • Oversee development and optimisation of workforce planning tools and modelling systems
  • Drive innovation in workforce analytics, including AI-enabled forecasting and automation approaches
  • Establish strong governance, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and reliability
  • Partner with IT and data teams to enhance systems, dashboards and reporting

Insights, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Design impactful dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI) to support strategic decisions
  • Conduct research into emerging workforce trends, tools and methodologies
  • Embed continuous improvement initiatives across workforce planning processes

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with leaders across corporate and program teams
  • Facilitate workshops to develop workforce assumptions and planning scenarios
  • Build trusted partnerships to influence workforce outcomes

About you 

You are a highly analytical and commercially minded professional with a passion for strategic workforce planning and data-driven decision-making.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years’ experience in analytics, workforce planning, finance, or data-related fields
  • Proven experience working in larger complex, multi-disciplinary environments
  • Previous defence industry experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong capability in workforce planning methodologies and concepts
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel, SQL, and Microsoft analytics tools
  • Experience with data modelling, reporting, and insights generation
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholder
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret long-term strategy into workforce insights
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and forecasting models
  • Power BI (or similar) reporting and visualisation capability
  • Knowledge of Python or R (desirable)
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Collaborative, adaptable and able to work in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
