About Us

Mobility & Wellness is a trusted provider of mobility, rehabilitation, and wellness solutions dedicated to improving the independence, comfort, and quality of life of our customers. Through a comprehensive range of healthcare equipment, mobility aids, and support products, we assist individuals, carers, healthcare professionals, and aged care providers across Australia.

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial management of the organisation and contribute to informed business decision-making.

About the Role

The Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management across all areas of the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with management to provide financial insights, support strategic planning, and maintain strong financial controls within a dynamic retail and healthcare-related environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing accounting workflows, internal controls, payment schedules, and finance standard operating procedures tailored to the dynamic needs of a mobility and wellness business.
  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including daily data entry, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance using Xero accounting software, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Handling accounts payable and receivable processes, overseeing invoice processing (100–250 per month), supplier account management, and ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
  • Preparing fortnightly payroll, superannuation contributions, and leave entitlement calculations in strict compliance with Fair Work Australia regulations and ATO requirements.
  • Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), and other tax-related documentation for lodgement, working closely with the external accountant who reviews and finalizes submissions.
  • Conducting GST compliance checks, year-end reconciliations, and preparing supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory deadlines, supporting both internal controls and external audit requirements.
  • Leading month-end closing and reconciliation processes, including reconciling bank statements, aged receivables and payables, and general ledger accounts to maintain financial integrity and meet internal deadlines prior to external accountant review.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance reports that inform management decision-making and support operational planning.
  • Maintaining and updating accounting software systems (Xero) to ensure all transactions, payroll, and supplier payments are accurately recorded, streamlining financial operations.
  • Liaising regularly with suppliers, internal teams, and the external accountant to coordinate audit readiness, compliance matters, and ensure smooth flow of financial information and timely completion of reporting requirements.
  • Supporting preparation and submission of financial documentation for compliance with statutory bodies such as the ATO, and other relevant regulators, ensuring submissions meet all reporting standards and deadlines.
  • Providing financial insights and advice to company leadership on cash flow management, tax obligations, budgeting, and overall financial performance, enabling informed strategic decisions.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the company’s external accountant, preparing and submitting all necessary documents and working papers for review, adjustments, and final audit sign-off.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Accountant or similar role.

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation requirements, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Why Join Mobility & Wellness?

  • Join a growing organisation dedicated to improving lives through healthcare and mobility solutions.
  • Work within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
