About the OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team on a 6‑month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the finance function, with a strong focus on financial reporting, payroll oversight, compliance and analysis. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who can step in confidently and maintain momentum during a planned leave period.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
Support the CFO and broader business to provide financial insights and support decision‑making
Identify and support continuous improvement in financial processes and controls
You will be a proactive and detail‑oriented accounting professional who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment.
You will bring:
CPA or CA qualification
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting role
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax legislation
Experience managing payroll and end‑to‑end financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB or similar)
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation
Desirable:
Experience in healthcare or government‑funded services
Familiarity with DVA or similar regulatory environments
Meaningful work supporting Australia’s veteran community
Supportive and collaborative team environment
